Hi there, I bid you welcome

What is static electricity and how can it be eliminated?

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ELECTRICALLY SHAKEN??

Have you ever been “shaken” when you touched a door handle, a car door or a fountain? Ouch!
Then you already have experience with static electricity! Everything, no matter how small, is made up of very small, invisible particles called atoms. A pencil is made up of atoms, as is our nose. An atom consists of an atomic nucleus and an electron shell. The atomic nucleus consists of protons and neutrons, which are firmly bound together. Electrons move in the electron shell. Charge carriers are electrons and protons, as they have the same electrical charge.

Basically, a static charge occurs when an external force causes electrons to be ejected from atoms, leaving an excess of protons and a net positive charge. Electrons are bound to the recipient atom, leaving it with excess electrons and a negative charge.

Like atoms, the bodies around us are normally electrically neutral. However, it can happen that they become electrified.

The most common causes of static electricity are friction, pressure and separation.

This phenomenon can also be observed in fabrics made of synthetic fibers, as mainly synthetic materials are conductive by nature. Electrostatic charge is therefore caused by friction between the fabrics in combination with dry air, as the air dries out during prolonged heating.

In these cases, you need to increase the humidity in the room with potted plants, a humidifier or by spraying the sofa with an anti-static spray, which you can also make yourself!

#FEYDOM TIPS FOR ELIMINATING STATIC ELECTRICITY:

#1 Buy a humidifier that you can hang on the radiator and add essential oil to it to make the room smell nice at the same time. You can also achieve the same by buying an automatic humidifier if you don’t have a radiator or don’t like the look of the accessories on the radiator.

#2 You can add extra humidity to the room by leaving the bathroom door open, drying wet laundry in the apartment or decorating the apartment with extra potted plants.

#3 Make your own anti-static spray by mixing fabric softener with water in a spray bottle in a 1:3 ratio and lightly spraying the sofa with it. If you are allergic or do not use fabric softener, we recommend mixing slightly salty water and adding a few drops of natural essential oil.
